Axis Community Health is partnering with the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) to increase the COVID-19 vaccination rate in Livermore, which stood at 77.4% as of February 2. At their first vaccine clinic for ages 5 and up in May Nissen Park on January 12, Axis staff along with School Superintendent Dr. Kelly Bowers and LVJUSD volunteers, facilitated over 280 patients getting their Covid-19 vaccines. Boomer, the LVJUSD support dog, was guest of honor, putting smiles on the faces of patients who had just received their vaccines. The team returned on February 2 and provided second and first doses, as well as boosters, for just as many people. The team will return every three weeks—complete with Boomer!
