Axis Chief of Behavioral Health Services Presents at CPCA Conference

Earlier this month, our state partner California Primary Care Association’s (CPCA) annual conference was held in Los Angeles. This year’s theme was “Innovation and Impact: Engaging Communities, Empowering Change.” This annual event honors community health centers as drivers of building and providing accessible, quality healthcare for all as well as recognizing champions and healthcare heroes, especially as they work towards carving innovating paths towards health equity.
Dr. Jennifer Penney, PsyD, Chief of Behavioral Health Services, Axis Community Health presented at the CPCA annual conference on the progress of Axis Bridge Mental Health Urgent Care program. Axis Bridge, is an innovative mental health urgent care service that provides rapid access to mental health treatment for patients ages 5 and up. This program serves as a model for the future of mental health care. Its specialized focus, immediate intervention, and holistic approach are paving the way for a more comprehensive and compassionate approach to mental health emergencies.
During her presentation, Dr. Penney highlighted all the successes of the Bridge program which include:

- 13,000 patients in the Tri-Valley are served per year
- Integrated Behavioral Health serving approximately 500 patients per week
- The program currently has approximately 20 licensed staff
- An Intern program
- Psychiatry & Care Coordination
- Provide Mental Health services in local school districts
