Axis’ Chief Medical Officer Completes Prestigious Fellowship

Dawnell Moody, DO, Axis’s Chief Medical Officer, recently concluded the California Health Care Foundation’s (CHCF) Health Care Leadership Program. This two-year program equips clinically trained healthcare professionals with the essential experience and expertise needed for effective leadership in the healthcare system. Each fellow completes a California Health Care Improvement Project aligned with fellowship guidelines. Dr. Moody’s project focused on clinicians no longer needing an X waiver to prescribe medically assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder and assessing a primary care provider’s readiness to take over prescribing for patients on a stable dose. The fellows engage in the program while continuing to maintain their roles at their respective organizations. They participate in six seminars throughout the fellowship and convene in regional groups led by designated mentors.

The project is an ongoing process to make (MAT) more available for patients with opioid use disorder, the project was a relatively small part of the fellowship which included training in leadership, executive presence, advancing Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and networking with other health care leaders in California to share best practices. Congratulations to Dr. Moody for being accepted and completing this prestigious fellowship!
