Axis Announces Exciting Leadership Updates

Axis Community Health is thrilled to welcome back Amit Pabla, who has returned as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Amit has over a decade of experience in the healthcare safety net space. “He brings a unique blend of leadership, expertise, and a genuine passion for making a difference,” says Liz Perez-Howe, CEO of Axis, “We are so pleased to welcome back a familiar face to our Axis Community.”

Amit served as Axis’s Chief of Quality and Transformation Officer for several years before moving to Southern California to work as COO for a large community health center. A proud graduate of the University of Southern California, Amit holds a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. He also holds a certificate in executive leadership from the prestigious UCLA Anderson School of Management, showcasing his commitment to continuous growth and excellence. As Axis’s new COO, Amit will oversee the day-to-day operations of our health centers and lead transformational initiatives.

Dr. Jennifer Penney, PsyD

Axis is also excited to announce another important change in Executive Leadership. Dr. Jennifer Penney, PsyD is now Axis’s Chief Integration Officer. She previously served as Chief of Behavioral Health. In addition to the Behavioral Health department, which includes psychiatry, Dr. Penney will now manage specialty services (Chiropractic and Acupuncture), WIC, and Enhanced Care Management. “I commend Jennifer for her outstanding leadership in overseeing our Integrated Behavioral Health team,” says Perez-Howe, “Her commitment to integrating behavioral health into our daily practice, meeting the needs of our patient population, and innovating practices in response to demand has been truly exceptional.”

As Axis is evolving and growing, Dr. Penney’s role is an essential step towards ensuring we remain cohesive and integrated and focused on driving quality improvement opportunities. She will work very closely with the COO, CMO, and CDO to ensure the integration of organizational activities across all departments.
