The first cohort of four dental students from Howard University’s College of Dentistry arrived earlier this month to experience public health dentistry in the Bay Area. They are the first of 16 externs (four groups of four) who will work at LifeLong dental clinics under the tutelage of LifeLong’s dental team.

“Through the support of our faculty providers, LifeLong will be able to expand our capacity to care for our patient community by allowing these dental students a four-week opportunity to gain clinical experience treating patients,” says Chief Dental Officer Dr. Miriam Parker. “It is our hope that this exposure will motivate one or two of them to join LifeLong upon graduation.”

The program is supported by a $275,000 grant from Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. Dental students will be arriving into next year.
