Advocating for Communities

The Alameda Health Consortium advocates for health policies and new initiatives that increase access to health care for low-income and uninsured populations in Alameda County. We work with county, state, and federal elected officials to keep them informed about the impact of budget cuts and policies on community health center services and all member of our communities.

Community health centers (also known as community clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, or FQHCs) are community-driven, non-profit clinics located in medically underserved areas or serving populations that are medically underserved. Community health centers share a mission to provide affordable, comprehensive primary care to all regardless of income level or insurance status.
