Cuts to Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid Program), will threatens the health of over 15 million Californians, including children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families who rely on Medicaid for essential, lifesaving care.

Community health centers see first hand the vital role Medicaid plays in early intervention, chronic disease management, and preventive services that reduce long-term costs and improve quality of life. Collectively, 71% of the patients served across all eight of our member community health centers are covered by Medi-Cal.

Currently: The United States House of Representatives narrowly passed a budget package Thursday, May 22, 2025 that makes deep cuts to health and social services.

The House-passed package would cut more than $700 billion over 10 years from Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act’s Marketplace insurance, and other health programs. It also cuts hundreds of billions from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly “Food Stamps”), the Child Tax Credit, and other key anti-poverty initiatives.
