Mission
To serve and advocate for the immigrant and refugee Asian community regarding its health rights, and to assure access to health care services regardless of income, insurance status, language, or culture.

Language Access and Policy Advocacy
  • Featured as a model program for the California Primary Care Association's (CPCA) publication Providing Health Care to Limited English Proficient (LEP) Patients: A manual of Promising Practices
  • Instrumental in passing language access policies such as the American Public Health Association's Policy resolution supporting the Executive Order 13166, Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights Guidance on Limited English Proficient inidviduals, and the HHS Office of Minority Health's Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services standards
Community Education and Case Management
  • Labor Coach Program: provides psychological support and interpretation during labor and delivery
  • Community Education: pedestrian safety in response to high concentrations of pedestrian motor vehicle accidents in the county
  • Reference Materials: Patient Orientation Handbook, a glossary of terms that also provide information on AHS services and enrollment instructions (available in Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean
